Long weld neck flanges made of duplex steel primarily consist of about 22%–25% chromium, 5%–7% nickel, 3%–4% molybdenum, along with bal…anced iron and trace amounts of nitrogen and manganese. This allows for remarkable resistance to corrosion (especially stress corrosion cracking and pitting). Mechanically, they have high tensile strength (which is roughly 620–850 MPa), high yield strength, and good toughness. By physical characteristics, duplex steel has a density of approximately 7.8 g/cm³, a melting point between about 1350–1400 °C, and good thermal and electrical conductivity. All these attributes make them well suited for high-pressure, corrosive, and demanding industrial applications.
